Brain Freeze or Back Freeze?

I Get a Back Freeze – How About You?

We have all done it. And we have all had it happen to us. In our excitement to suck down our Slurpee we forget for one moment that torturous result of not paying attention to our slurping technique. Then it hits you. Yep… The Brain Freeze.

If you are like most people, you get a boring Brain Freeze. Otherwise known in my circleย  – A Headache.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe it’s because I’m a lefty or maybe it’s because I’m just odd. And as you know, I’m ok with my oddness as it makes me unique. You see, me and my fellow oddballs never get brain freezes. We get something way worse. We get Back Freezes.

And what does a back freeze feel like? Glad you asked. It feels just like someone is stabbing you through your back with a knife. Then as they laugh at your pain, they twist that knife just to add extra pain.

When it hits, it makes you stand up straight, push your shoulders back and stick your chest out. (And no, the ladies are not making you guys an offer to check out their boobies)

But like you “normal boring people” the pain does subside in a minute or two and we all just go back to sucking down that Slurpee. Just like nothing happened.

Do you know other back freeze oddballs? Don’t hate. Trust me, we wish we got a Brain Headache like you.

~~~till we laugh again~~~
      I also get it in my nose! It has NEVER happened in my brain. I was wondering if this was normal. It hurts like hell
    I get the “nose freeze” too. It hurts a lot, but only (usually) last a few seconds. Actually, a couple weeks ago, I was having a slurpee and it lasted way longer. Not fun at all. I wonder why some of us get it in weird places?
        I get brain freezes and I get back freezes and what really sucks is when I get both at the same time!!! Oh my goodness. I dread it, yet I never put my icees down not have I stopped drinking or eating frozen anything. They’re the best!!! I also have sinus problems always have. Bet it could be a factor….. Hmm….
      I get back freeze, all the way up and down my spine. Also, standing outside in the cold too long will do it if I tense up from shivering.
    I am so happy I found this thread! To find out that there is nothing wrong with me, hurra!! (=norwegian outburst for joy) I get back-freeze, and that’s ok!
    It used to be that it went to the back of my neck but I’m drinking a milk shake right now. This is the first time it went to my back. It’s right behind my armpits.
          I get back freeze only, it is very painful and I do not go back to drinking whatever it was that caused the back freeze.
    I get the brain freeze, back freeze, and blurred vision( maybe from the intense pain) and my friends always laugh and say im overreacting. >.> if they only knew.
    I get back freeze, have never experience brain freeze. Thanks for posting as I thought I was the only oddball…….by the way, I am also left handed.
      I use to think I was odd but I’m finding there are tons of us! A lot of us are left handed too. How odd ๐Ÿ™‚
    My husband thinks I’m odd…I get both brain & back freeze, but the back freeze is the WORST! But I’m sitting in Wet Willie’s in Atlantic City right now, during Mango Rum Slushies, every now and then twisting in pain LOL…btw I’m ambidextrous
    I used to get brain freezes then I got both brain freezes and back freezes and now I just have back freezes I think my back is tender to the cold because every time a breeze blows by I shiver and my shoulders rock
    I experienced exactly how you described a back freeze would be like for the first time tonight and Iโ€™m also a lefty, is it a coincidence?
    Wow your post made me feel not so weird after all. I call them spine and sinus freezes and my kids look at me like Iโ€™m from a gas planet that hasnโ€™t been discovered yet lol. Thanks for making me feel normal again ?
